What Is British Value? How do we implement this here?

It is a statutory requirement for Early Years to implement the fundamental  British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs. This is already imbedded in the EYFS and in our nursery, we ensure such values are reflected through practise, routine   and activities. Our policies also reflect such practise such as the Equal Opportunity Policy and SEN policy and children are reminded daily that it is unacceptable to dismiss others faith and belief and such sensitive topics are controlled and structured carefully. All children have responsibility in protecting and promoting the wellbeing of others in nursery.  We use our manners and understand that sharing and taking turn is key in building good relationships. We stand in a  line correctly when waiting to go somewhere and do not jump in as we care about others. we listen to what others are saying and wait our turn.Children understand that rules and boundaries are here to protect themselves and others and must be followed in order for smooth running of the setting. Children's voices and opinions are also heard and their input is as much important as staff. They take control and help build safe and happy rules to promote welfare and safety. Separately, the Counter Terrorism and Security Act also places a duty on early years providers “to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism” (the Prevent duty).
