This week, we had an exciting visit from chai the cat, the visit came about from the children’s own interests during walk, as they spotted a cat. This sparked lots of excitement and conversation as the children began talking about the different pets they have or know. Following the children’s interests, we extended the conversation to explore how we can care for our pets and ensure they are happy, healthy and safe. The children had the opportunity to develop their understanding of being kind and gentle towards animals, as well as learning about the importance of providing pets with food, water, shelter and love. To build on this interest, we arranged a visit from chai, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Chai is fully vaccinated and all the necessary safeguarding and safety procedures (risk assessment) were followed to ensure the visit was safe and enjoyable for everyone. Permission from parents were also asked.
