Introduction of healthy snacks

Dear parents and carers,

At Golden stars nursery, we are committed to promoting healthy eating habits and helping children develop a positive relationship with food from an early age.

Following suggestions and feedbacks from parents, we have listened to your views and are pleased to introduce a change to our daily snacks routine. We value the opinions of out parents and carers and believe that working together helps us provide the best possible care and learning experiences for our children.

Instead of children bringing their own snacks from home, the nursery will provide fresh fruits and vegetables for children to enjoy. This change will encourage children to try a variety of fruits and vegetables, explore different tastes colours and textures and understand the importance of healthy eating. We hope to develop positive eating habits that children can carry with them as they grow.

When providing fruits and vegetables we will always consider the children’s ages, developmental stages and individual needs to minimise the risk of choking. All food will be washed and prepared appropriately with fruits and vegetables cut into age-appropriate sizes and shapes. Children will be appropriately supervised while eating, and we will take account of any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements.

£2 per week for full time children and children attending afternoon sessions

£1 per week for children attending two and a half days per week.

Please note that the healthy snacks contribution will be separate from the existing nursery fund. The nursery fund is used to purchase the resources and ingredients for children activities, such as slime making, play dough , cooking activities and other fun, hands on learning experiences. The healthy snacks contribution will be used specifically to provide fresh fruit and vegetables for the children.

We kindly ask parents and carers not to send individual snacks from home, as fruit and vegetables will be provided by the nursery. If your child has any allergies intolerances or specific dietary requirements, please ensure that the nursery is informed so that appropriate arrangements can be made to keep your child safe.

Thank you for sharing your suggestions with us and for your continued support. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to listen to parent’s views as we work together to promote children’s health, safety and wellbeing as well as development.

Kind regards,

The management Team
