Today, the children arrived dressed up in their spooktacular Halloween costumes, bringing lots of smiles, excitement and magical autumn fun! π·οΈπ¦ From little witches and superheroes to pumpkins and spooky characters, our setting was filled with creativity, imagination and laughter.
𧑠Following the childrenβs interests
The children showed great excitement and curiosity about Halloween, exploring their favourite characters, costumes and spooky accessories. They enjoyed sharing their ideas, talking about their outfits and noticing the different colours, patterns and details. By following the childrenβs interests, we provided opportunities for them to express their individuality, make choices, develop their imagination and engage in meaningful, child-led learning. β¨π
β¨ Why is dressing up important in EYFS?
Dressing up is much more than just fun! It supports childrenβs learning and development in many wonderful ways:
π Expressive Arts and Design: Children explore their creativity, experiment with different roles and use their imagination to bring characters to life.
π£οΈ Communication and Language: Talking about their costumes encourages children to develop their vocabulary, describe what they are wearing, ask questions and share their ideas with others.
π€ Personal, Social and Emotional Development: Dressing up helps children build confidence, express themselves, develop friendships and engage in imaginative play together.
π Understanding the World: Children explore Halloween traditions, learn about different celebrations and discover how people express themselves through costumes.
π§ Physical Development: Putting on and taking off costumes, fastening zips and handling accessories help develop independence, coordination and fine motor skills.
β€οΈ What a fantastic way to end our first autumn term! We are so proud of our little learners and the confidence, creativity, curiosity and joy they bring to every experience. By valuing their interests and ideas, we help make learning meaningful, engaging and enjoyable.
Wishing all our families a wonderful autumn break, filled with happiness, fun and a little Halloween magic! πππ»
